Stanley Samuel Kahn, M.D., passed away at the age of 97 on May 6, 2017 in Berkeley, California, where he lived with his wife, Adeline, for the last 17 years. A deeply committed physician for over 50 years in Birmingham, Dr. Kahn possessed a lifelong love of learning, beginning with his reading the Book of Knowledge as a young boy. He was born in Manhattan and reared by Rose and Ben Kahn, in Gadsden, Alabama, and Norwich, New York.
Stanley was initiated to Phi Beta Kappa at the University of Alabama in 1938. He served on the Northern California Association's board as First Vice-President, Programs from 2005-2007 and brought us a number of interesting events.
